A new scheme, funded by energy companies, has recently
made loft and/or cavity wall insulation free to anyone aged over 70 who owns or privately rents their
home. Provided the depth of your loft insulation is 150mm/6” or less, installers will top this up to
the recommended amount of 270mm/11” for free (subject to survey). Insulating your walls and roof-space
are two of the best ways of cutting your fuel bills, and making sure you can afford to keep warm. You
could save up to £200 a year by installing these measures. If
you are over 70 and would like to discuss having free loft and/or cavity wall insulation installed,
or if you have questions about any the subjects below, call the Wiltshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre
(EEAC) on freephone 0800 512012 to speak to an energy advisor. Wiltshire EEAC provides
free, impartial, expert advice to help cut the amount of energy used at home. The EEAC works closely
with local authorities and energy suppliers so they can tell you about any grants or offers that might
be available. They are part of a network of advice centres across the country and are part funded by
the Energy Saving Trust. Wiltshire EEAC is based at the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust providing information
